This project focused on the installation of a new traffic signal and safety enhancements at the intersection of US 27 and Wellness Way in Lake County.

Project Overview
The purpose of this project was to address safety concerns and improve traffic management at a critical intersection that experienced increased traffic volumes following the paving of Schofield Road. The new signal system was designed to improve traffic flow and reduce high-risk turning movements while prioritizing pedestrian safety and visibility.

Project Leadership and Scope
Members of our staff served as the Engineer of Record and Project Manager for this initiative, overseeing the design and implementation of the traffic signal and associated safety improvements.

Design Features and Innovations
Our team led the design, which included:

• Installation of a new mast arm traffic signal

• Updated striping, including stop bars and temporary crosswalk enhancements for a proposed trail on the southeast corner of the intersection

• Advanced warning "signal-ahead" signs to address line-of-sight challenges on the Wellness Way approach to US 27

• Lighting, signage, and pavement marking upgrades designed to meet FDOT criteria

Coordination and Analysis
The project required accelerated timelines to address urgent safety concerns. Our team worked closely with stakeholders to ensure the timely and effective delivery of all components. Special attention was given to the community's needs, ensuring minimal disruptions during construction.
